Liquid Spine is excited to announce the second, biennial FOR THIS EARTH: Eco-Arts Film Festival, opening September, 21, 2024. This uplifting festival aims to bring awareness, spark the need to protect our global environment, and celebrate nature’s beauty. The festival includes live performance, visual art, and screendance that speaks to climate change, ecology, the beauty of our natural world, indigenous wisdom and story-telling, sustainability, and environmental activism. The festival will be held in The Foundry, a center of creativity and collaboration in the Kendall Square neighborhood of Cambridge, MA. We are thrilled to utilize this space for our eco-arts festival. About the Juror & Curator:
Brooke Lambert is a professional printmaker and painter. She holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and shows her work widely in New England, New York, and beyond. Brooke works in Studio 447 at Western Avenue Studios & Lofts in Lowell, MA. She is currently represented by Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition Gallery in New York. Brooke is a sponsored artist by Akua Inks and Speedball Art Products. She has eleven years of teaching experience and currently teaches art workshops and holds artist demos in several locations throughout New England. In addition to her professional art practice, Brooke has organized and curated exhibitions as well as juried awards and grants for cultural councils and art organizations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Submission Deadline: June 1, 2024 Selected Artists Notification Date: July 1, 2024 Art Exhibition & Festival Date: Saturday, September 21, 2024 Set up time: 4:00-6:00 Gallery Time: 6:00-7:15 Screendance Festival: 7:15-8:30 Gallery Time: 8:30-9:00 Break down: 9:00-10:15 The Juried Visual Art Exhibition during the FOR THIS EARTH Eco-Arts Festival will be held as a one-day, Pop-Up Show at The Foundry in Cambridge, MA. This selective one-day juried exhibition will celebrate the work of 6-8 contemporary artists whose practices include theme(s) of beauty in the natural world, climate change, connection between people and the earth, environmental awareness and activism, or indigenous wisdom & storytelling. Submitted work must incorporate one or more of these themes and utilize techniques of painting, printmaking, textiles, sculpture, ceramics, or photography with a focus on sustainability and/or reclaimed materials. Work Requirements: Artists must bring their own equipment for setting up their pop-up gallery. This could include a table, easel, and potential hanging equipment. Please note that nothing may be attached to any historical structures (wooden beams, brick walls) including taping, stapling, or nails. Anything hung must be done in a way that does not provide lasting damage to the building; some easily removable methods include painters tape, command strips, or glue dots. Artists must enter (6) cohesive works in line with the themes above in 2D, 3D or both. 2D works must not exceed 40” in any dimension including frames. Framed work must be wired on the back. Sculptural work and ceramics must be on pedestals, or displayed professionally (all display materials must be provided by the artist.) Selected artists may choose to bring a selection of matted and on paper work in addition to their work on display. Matted work and work on paper must be professionally wrapped and stored in print bins. Print bins must be provided by the artist. All work must be installed by the artist before the event. Agreement: FOR THIS EARTH: Eco Arts Festival & Liquid Spine reserve the right to photograph and share images of accepted work for publication and publicity purposes. Accepted Artists will be required to sign a liability waiver in order to secure their participation. Accepted Artists will be allowed to sell their work, at their own discretion, provided that 5% of your revenue is shared with The Foundry. |
